Allen Tinkham is increasingly recognized as one of the most inspiring and exciting conductors and teachers of his generation. He is hailed by the Chicago Tribune as one of the most important "educators, mentors and inspirational guides in the training of tomorrow's orchestral professionals" and as a conductor of "uncanny control."

"He knows what he wants and how to get it."

     - John von Rhein, Chicago Tribune

As Music Director of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras and the Chicago Composers Orchestra, season highlights include Beethoven's Symphony No. 4, Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, Boulez’s Dérive 1, Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, Zwilich's Symphony No. 1, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, and guest conducting engagements this season include Dvorák’s Symphony No. 6 and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 11.
